TULEVAT
Kansainvälisen
505 liiton toimeenpanema äänestys uuden ja suuremman spinaakkerin
käyttöönotosta on päättynyt. Suurempi purje sai 2:1 kannatuksen.
Vain ranskalaiset ranskalaiset vastustivat muutosta. Uusi spinnu
esitetään otettavaksi käyttöön Lokakuussa tänä vuonna.

liiton sihteerin Chris Thornin selvitys spinnuäänestyksestä:
Having received
returns from three of the four biggest national fleets (GBR
excepted) and votes from members of 12 National Associations
in total I can give the following news:
About 375
votes were cast. (approx 30% of the membership) This is the
highest "turnout" for a class ballot for years but it is disappointing
that 70% of members were still not motivated to vote on what
is a significant change.
The votes
appear to be about 2:1 in favour of the motion
Most countries
voted strongly in favour, typically by a factor of 3 or 4 to
1. The exceptions were Canada which voted marginally in favour,
and France which voted strongly against by about 3:1. France
also had the highest turnout, with over 100 votes cast, and
accounted for about 70% of the total "no" vote. Provisionally,
therefore, it appears that the new rule has been accepted by
the class and will probably be introduced wef 1 October this
year. The final result will not be declared for a few weeks
as I have to receive all ballot papers from around the world,
check for any duplications with votes that I have received directly
and then have the result checked by someone else. However, given
the margin of the vote in favour, it would take discovery of
a major irregularity to affect the result.

Sääntömuutos
mahdollistaa spinaakkerin fallin nostamista 850mm ylemmäs
ja purjeen pidentämistä metrillä. Näin pinta-ala
on n. 25 m2. Muutostyöt voidaan tehdä vanhoihin mastoihin
ja purjeisiin. Spinnuihin on mahdollista ommella metrin suikale
lisää, joten vanhat purjeet eivät mene hukkaan.
